Well, Comic Con is officially over. It was a rough one but a lot of people got the chance to play the build, win a Gearoid-designed T-shirt, and get some signed BC posters, so it was worth the trip to San Diego.
While at Comion one of the things I got special permission to show was one of the Japanese promo videos we created. It's a collaboration between one of the most famous Japanese anime song vocalists, Ichirou Mizuki, and Kouhei Tanaka who is responsible for creating some of the songs for the Sakura Wars series. It was truly a match made in anime heaven and getting to tie that into the Bionic Commando series was really nice (personally, I can't wait to sing it at Karaoke).
Ichirou Mizuki is really a great guy. Not only has he been on the anime scene for 40 years, he is an avid gamer and the first time I met him he was telling me about how he liked playing as Tofu in Resident Evil 2. I mean, in order to unlock Tofu, he must have been pretty hardcore! He was even prepared to take the trip to Comic Con to sing in person, but he unfortunately had a previous engagement and was unable to attend. So in his stead, he created this nice video letter for all the fans.
Since the promo video itself is only for Japan, we are technically not allowed to host it here, but check the link before for the video at our Bionic Commando Japan site (click on the left most movie image at the bottom to play).
It truly is Japanese to the core but it's extremely cool to get the chance to have not only a comic book by the artist responsible for the Watchmen, but also a cool anime intro using one of the most talented anime lyricists. Go Go Go Bionic!
