E3, jet-lag, time differences or just plain laziness? One or more of these is the reason this report is late finding it's way to you. But we think you'll agree, this one is rather packed.
New 3D BC E3 trailer and impressions
While others were busy with Resident Evil 5 and Ben prepared for BC's big showing at Comicon, Simon, Viktor and Gunnar from Grin were all on hand at the new, slimmer E3 to show off Bionic Commando. We'll have a full report back from E3 coming shortly, but in the meantime, click this link to check out the new trailer we unveiled at E3. Even if you weren't already excited for the next-gen version, you would want to be clinically dead if you don't want to play it after seeing this.
Bionic Commando on G4TV, hosted by Simon Viklund
Also E3-related, check out BC's appearance on G4TV, with special guest Simon Viklund (who, contrary to the content of the video, did not work for Capcom when last I checked).
MS drops release date hint
And for you lot hanging in there for Rearmed - is vague information better than no information at all? You decide. But there is not long to wait for a concrete release date now!
Bionic Jam now on sale at iTunes
Vertexguy's
rock'n'roll take on the Bionic Commando theme, aka "The Bionic Jam", is
now available to watch right here on the site's homepage, and if you'd
like to purchase it for the low, low price of just 99 US cents, you can
now get it from iTunes here.
Don't forget that it's also available at Sumthing Digital. Let us know what you think!
Nothing to Do with Bionic Commando...
...but worth showing you anyway - it's a special t-shirt for Mega Man 9.
Takeshita-san, the MM9 producer, was modeling this with great pride at
E3, and Ben Judd claims to have been the man who inspired it. I just
want to know how you go about finding someone able to draw something
that is simultaneously crap AND awesome. I dare say this has even
topped our Exploding Head t-shirt (best part - even though his arm is a
gun, he's still holding ANOTHER gun!).
There's no topping that, so we'll call it a day... but Comicon is right around the corner!

Holy... schneikies...
When I watched the trailer- and all the new footage up on Gametrailers- it quite honestly had me in tears.Without a doubt, you have managed to claim the holy grail of video gaming- transforming classic 2D game mechanics into full-blown 3D without losing a single ounce of the feeling or the magic that made it so great in the FIRST place, and furthermore, having it all wrapped up into a shiny new package that is both graphically spectacular for the newer consoles while still recognizeably, at its core, the same franchise we all know and love.
In other words, despite it being 3D, despite the shiny new current-gen graphics replacing the old 8-bit graphics and 2D gaming of the NES title, when I saw Spencer swinging around and utilizing his bionic arm to climb to new heights, all I could think was "Bionic Commando"- and unless I am VERY much mistaken, that's EXACTLY what you guys were going for there, so, perfect 10/10 in MY book.
Keep up the good work, guys!
+1 sonic
Watching real people play the game at E3 was awesome. You really captured the feel of what it would be like if a bionic arm replaced your normal form of transport. The Backflip tm and ability to swing up and land... beautiful. Playing BC:R will really help pass the time while you guys work on that....On the MM9... Did you notice the SWEET "8-bit Fidelity Engine"? Man that has got to be good!
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/17/castle-crashers-galaga-legions-more-on-xbla-in-4-6-weeks/
Castle Crashers, Braid, Geo Wars 2, BC:R, and Galaga will all be released on XBLA within the next four to six weeks. That is, they will ALL be released during the next four to six week period. So there will be lots of good gaming coming up soon.
I just hope that BC:R is on the top of that list! But August is looking increasingly likely.
Nice Bionic Commando Demo
I saw it, and it looks fun. I especially like the classic "Rad" Spencer in the 3D version. However, I am still confused: How does Rad go from short red hair to brown hair in dreads?Blame it on Microsoft
So it really was Microsoft all along... what a shocker. Now we just want to hear why...?I may very well be overcome with excitement...
I can't comment on it quite yet. But I can say that there is a strong possibility that I may or may not be excited for the new Bionic Commando games. I'm really not allowed to say anything right now. Come on, you guys know how it is. As producer I have certain obligations that don't allow me to say or announce anything with out going through the proper channels. And besides I don't want to spoil anything quite yet. So, to answer your question about my feelings for the upcoming BC game I can only say: Definitely maybe. Now to answer your other question about whether or not I will buy the new Bionic Commando games is totally different ballpark and it's too early to comment on that. There's a lot of discussion with various parties that would need to take place before I can really consider an answer to that question. That's something we would have plan out, at the very least, a year in advance.
In other words... Excitement about Bionic Commando games? Definitely maybe. Will I purchase said Bionic Commando games? That I can't comment on.
Also, I want to add: Those of you who listen to the podcast will want to keep checking my comments on these pages because I may or may not have a very BIG announcement pertaining to the subjects above. I can't say anything yet, but I will say this. The fans will be very pleased.

@ Ben Judd
I have a real question (GASPS IN HORROR). While watching the bionic commando 3-D version demo'z I noticed that there are like little red triangles that fill your cross-hairs when you are targeting an enemy.I was just wondering if the targeting system is completely fluid and you have complete control or if once the red triangles appear your target kinda gravitates or is magnetic towards the enemy targeted acting on it's own accord (Run on sentence ftw).
NiCe!
I saw the E3 demo, it was AMAZING, i cant wait to see more fotage and finnaly get my hands on it. Rearmed souns like it is coming soon and i cant wait for the concrete release date. Simon seemed kinda nervous =p@David.crumbs
Concerning the existence of Ben Judd:Is there a Ben Judd? Does he exist? Do I believe?
I can say without any doubt: That is a SOLID perhaps.
Ben
a question for the all-powerful Judd
With the transition to three dimensions and the additional moves given to Spencer, I would really appreciate being able to reassign buttons to fit my playing style. Will Bionic Commando let players fully customize their controls?I would also like to add that the massive cityscape shown in the new trailer looks absolutely amazing.
3D classic RAD is pretty rad...
awesome to see how the old school version of nathan looks in action in the 3D game. even though i'm finally warming up to the dreads (unless you're in the 80's hardcore band die kruzen, white guys tend to have a hard time pulling them off), that amped up my excitement even more for this game.also need to add my own little accolades for the mega man 9 shirt, along with mega man 9 itself. after watching/reading about a whole mess of E3 coverage, i think i can officially call myself a capcom fanboy; BC, BC:rearmed, mega man, resident evil 5(heard Gears translating on 1UP... he's really being put to work, huh?), sfIV, dark void... wow. it's a wonder my own head hasn't exploded yet.
Still loving Bionic Jam
I pimp it (can I even say that?) on my PSP all the time, and literally play it in friends' ears. They love the insane solo, because it blows their minds, almost like the fictional death of a World War II dictator, resurrected by an evil madman as part of a plot for world domination.*awkward pause*
Yeaaaaaaaaaah, and it's totally RAD. (You guys have no idea how much I say that word, since Rearmed was announced.)
Damnit!
You guys always make me feel bad for saying either of the BC games looks awesome, when it always gets topped off in every trailer. I'm running out of words to properly describe my excitement durnit, so I'm just gonna say: RAD!Lol
@ WithoutUnderpantsYa I hear you, I'm running a bit thin on material myself. I'm like a steam powered train, that is out of coal...or whatever the hell they use to boil the water.
Wait wait wait!!!
Is there a Screen of the Rearmed Skin IN BC3D?!?! Where is it?Wow
The game looks like so much fun but it looks so damn hard. Darn trailers make it look easy! Gaaah I want to play it but I have a feeling it'll be too hard for me. x.x
