Soooo, Gearoid has spent the last 2 days trying to edit together this week's podcast. It wasn't easy thanks to us using the "on-the-road" microphone, the Blue Snowball, and the fact that we were all pretty toasty when we recorded the show!
But still, it's always nice when some of the elites of gaming media give us their valuable time and participate on the podcast. This time we were lucky enough to get 1Up's Shane Bettenhausen and Garnett Lee as well as Giant Bomb's Jeff Gerstmann, and a special guest host in Billy Berghammer. I have to say, I had never "hung out" with Gerstmann but he was not only hilarious but pretty damn nice, too (we'll see how I feel about him after he reviews Bionic Commando though!).
Hopefully, you will walk away feeling your 60 minutes (or so) was well spent cause I know we could have been using that time to pound beers in the Moon bar at Vegas, get hangovers, and hit on women way, way out of our league (not necessarily in that order).
As always, we greatly appreciate anyone out there who is willing to give us their valuable time to write a review on iTunes. Also, if you have any guests that you would like to see on the show, let us know and we'll see what we can do. Remember that you can post comments about past and upcoming podcasts over at the podcast page and have them preserved there for all eternity.
And with that...
enjoy the FORKIN podcast!
Ben

Pick Me!!!
I would single handedly kill all the bums in New York City to be a guest on the one and only podcast that matters....Love, Hyakitaki
Awesome!
I'll be listening to the podcast in my office today and I already know I'll be cracking up and people will wonder what the FORK I'm doing. Oh well! Thanks again guys!If I could write another review, I would. Damn you iTunes!
However I nominate you guys give Bionic Commando:Next Gen/Current Gen version a subtitle so as to have an easier way talking about it. I propose Bionic Commando: Snark up your Arsenal. Or you could have the guys from Insomniac games come up with something for you.
For your next podcast you guys should get Geoff Keighley. I think he usually asks some good questions and he seems like a pretty fun guy to talk to as well. Or...... Tomunobu Itagaki ! That dood is such a badass, maybe Capcom will pick him up now that he's left Tecmo.
@ ACBreaker
Wow, Itakagaki and Capcom...That team-up would yield some amazing results!
On the "flavor" of the podcast...
Regarding that guy's comment today about the Gearoid bashing... I think one thing about the podcast is that over time it's become a loose and honest discussion. It doesn't feel fake when I listen to it. One thing is that a guest like Simon is different from guys from Destructoid or Gerstmann who used to be the editor of Gamespot. They're probably more used to an experience like 1Up Yours. The press come on to shoot the, uh, shoot with Ben and Co. and it's not a serious interview like it is with Simon. It's more like a roundtable discussion. We've had a few of those lately and honestly compared to the somewhat stiffness of the first podcasts, I find that the group has really gelled together and it's an hour of solid entertainment and news. Even the interviews are very well done and the guests are very intriguing to listen to.I mean, obviously we can't have a show that's a solid FIDDLESTICKS! or FORK! all the way through, but IMO I don't like making guests not be able to be themselves. Aside from what was obviously a gag to regular listeners two weeks ago, I find that the show tends to be very easy on swearing, and any profanity is censored anyway!
Besides... Gearoid is a Decepticon. C'mon. He has it coming. ;) My vibe that I get is that the cast members of Top Secret are really all good buddies and, like most groups of good buddies, they rib each other on almost everything. I don't read too much into it and I would suggest the same to others.
Any news about the launch day?
Sorry for changing the theme but i want to know if there is any news about the launching day, believe me dude, every day i check every videogames site to see if it appears on the "Upcoming Releases" list, it where a month ago before the delay! I dont want the exact day, just an slightly idea, end of June? July?, August???. Cmon!! im dying here without knowing!July?
Last article I read said that Benn Judd said sometime in July. Any confirmation Ben? Should we be expecting BCR in July? If so, early mid or late July? :)My first "long" comment
For once I’m going to have a non-conformist and have a few disapproving remarks towards the podcast. I, like many who listen in every two weeks do enjoy your guy’s mentioning of other games and off-topic moments but this week (in my opinion) you hardly mentioned the Bionic Commando games. This is the Bionic Commando podcast right? I would have liked to hear about muli-player and a bit more into how it will work but sadly hardly anything other then a it was in the game from the start. So were you guys just off this time, or just sick of talking about it to the press at Captive 08? Hoping to hear about the game next time and everything else.
Thanks.
PS. At 30 minutes in you totaly missed the “Bass” ;)
@Xenon2000
In an IGN article they said Ben had told them the game was finished and judging from Shane’s comments in the podcast it looks like it is being held in the back of Microsoft’s XBLA line-up. Can we get a confirmation Ben on the games status?
@Hyakitaki
I don't think our swear filter would make it through an episode with you in it much as I can appreciate your humor! Although we could probably have some fun by changing key words like "KILL all the bums in New York" to "KISS all the bums in New York"...Ben
Comment #2: Bionic Commando: Rearmed = FAIL
Ben,
Was wondering if there is any possibility of you guys putting BCR on a separate disc included in with "the next gen" Bionic Commando for like $70?I don't know what goes into putting a down loadable game on a disc or what type of resources it takes. I was just curious because, there may be a lot of people out there without the Internet not able to download this gem and honestly, they shouldn't miss out on it.
I myself will be downloading it for both the 360 and ps3. Just tryn to look out for all the people not able to get it via the Internet.
Ben, are you avoiding?
Either Ben has nothing to say about the comments he made to IGN. Or he is trying to avoid saying anything. Or he is missing the comments, which I doubt. Ben, could you at least acknowledge you read the post and don't want to say anything? Or better yet, give us some details. :)Patience is a Virtue
He may not be able to make a comment. I would just chill about it. If they're at the mercy of the first party (MS or Sony) or even by Capcom wanting to spread out releases like Commando 3, the new 1942, BC:R and SF2 Turbo HD and doesn't want to cannibalize their own sales. July is only a month away, after all.But if it was on Steam now, I'd buy it now, and then buy it on XBLA later.
Gerstmann (at least, it sounded like Gerstmann) had a good point - I spent 1600 spacebucks on Penny Arcade. But I'll be buying BC:R for PC, Xbox, AND I bought the soundtrack. They'll get MORE of money. So... best to just be patient. It's just like the Boeing 787 - there's no point to rushing it, it'll be ready when it's ready.
Which comments in particular?
Which comments in particular? There have been a lot of questions that I couldn't answer for various reason (I didn't know, it hadn't been decided, I wasn't allowed to say or I would get fired, a strong perhaps, a definite maybe, or a firm could be!)Ben
Compare and save...
Ben, I love the podcast, love the "witty banter", and the freedom you give guests and how everyone seems buddy buddy. This last podcast was a little info deprived, but still good. However you should really be ashamed that Commando 3 came out before BC:R. However they want $10 for that one, and it doesn't even have a demo. I do want names. In the podcast they alluded to "one channel holding up the release". Who is it so we can send hate mail?
whoa
man¡ i wouldn´t like to be in your shoes¡but i guess that´s why you are a producer in Capcom..
